WE OFFER MOLD RESISTANT BASEMENTS.

All of our basement projects are framed using metal framing because the basement is the lowest room in any home (below grade) resulting in more damp conditions which stimulates the growth of mold. Liberty General Contractors took this into consideration and uses metal framing rather than traditional wood. Not only does mold not grow on metal (because it does not absorb moisture) it also has many other benefits for our customers and Liberty General Contractors as stated below: To learn all you need to know about mold and your health visit our link... mold-help.org

TERMITES: Metal is impervious to them. Termites cause more damage to homes than all natural disasters combined. Termites most common points of entry are: basement foundation walls where there are cracks, wood sill plates resting on soil where framing is started above the foundation just above the basement, the joint between the footing and the foundation wall, and cracks in the concrete floor in the basement.

STRAIGHTNESS: Metal is always strait, unlike wood which twist and bows caused by fluctuating humidity levels. Wood also is known for movement after being installed which may occur days or take a few years to notice nail pops and uneven walls and soffits. Having strait walls and soffits makes the project simply appear better.

NAIL POPS: Because metal can not be nailed, it must be screwed therefore eliminating nail pops in the future. A nail pop occurs when either the nail slips from a framing member or a framing member moved causing the nail to move resulting in nail heads protruding from the surface. Screws are more aggressive in any fastening application due to the permanent grabbing effect of the threads.

FIRE: Our basement projects are more fire resistant than using traditional wood framing. In the event of a fire, fire resistant materials slow the fire spread rate to buy more time for escape. Virtually any product will burn but, some are not as combustible to others and burns slower. If a fire were to start in a basement, and as we all know the basement being the lowest point in a house, the fire would rapidly travel upward to the rest of the home destroying it faster.

LOWERS LABOR COST: Metal framing is easy to handle due to it's light weight and delivered in easy to maneuver bundles. There are holes pre-punched for electrical wires to pass through therefore no drilling is required. The top and bottom tracks (plates) have an allowance of up to an inch and a half variable in fluctuating uneven floors therefore less measuring is needed. All of these benefits are incorporated in the estimates that Liberty General Contractors provide to our customers for a more attractive project cost.
